Painting the Night Sky

A thin paintbrush Dragging blue paint across paper A one-track mind Trying to be seen better. Screams and insults Of unkinship disdain. A heart desperately trying To shut out the pain. A girl who was told Her skill wasn't enough But tried not go stumble Into the road rough. A girl who tried not To exceed her golden frame And chooses to take Every single blame. Paint-stained fingers A present in wrapping A heart within Hopelessly hoping. A gift to the family That always dragged her down Hoping against hope That they wouldn't frown.
