Painful Side of Love

I don’t know why I long for love
For though it’s quite different from pain
They often feel the same, really
Both can drive you insane

If you’re a stranger
And you treat me wrong
I might hurt for a minute
But it’ll never be for long

The hurt is just that much deeper
When it comes from family or friends
When love is involved, more is expected
And the cut is harder to mend

It’s easy to lose what you never had
If I don’t care for you then I’ll be ok
But when love is present for a sweet goodbye
I’m always—always in dismay

They say love is pain
Even for the perfect pair
So why keep asking
When it only hurts to care

Dangit! You did it again... I'm bawling, well, on the inside, but a little bit still leaks from my eyes every time I read one of your poems. Beautiful, Mel. Absolutely beautiful.

Very interesting poem - Through deep contemplation I learned that true love is sacrifice - I would sacrifice all I am for my wife - Her happiness comes before my own always - People often confuse love as something that will bring them happiness but happiness is something that is born with-in - Love is but the opportunity to show another that you would sacrifice all for their happiness regardless of your own pain - When you love in this way you are truly untouchable - God Bless
