Pain of Beauty

Now that I am taken,
from where I belong,
My heart is empty,
I won’t last very long,

I’ll be put on display,
and bloom for a while,
As I catch my breath,
to just one more smile,

My life just begun,
I was beauty to bear,
Out there in the world,
out there in the air,

Oh I’ll shine for a day,
maybe two or three more,
But then I’ll wither away,
until I fall to the floor.
