Pain and Misery
pain
doubles her over
sweating
on the ER stretcher
bright lights and too much
noise
intensifies
misery
weeks of pain
like toothpicks
lost inside
patiently
the nurse pushes pain medication
into the IV
she cannot make out the words
for all the flurry
