Paid My Dues

I should relax,
Instead, I'm stressed.
  I got the blues,
I'm depressed.

  It is like there are
Chains on me.
  The lessons of life
Don't come free.

I find it hard to believe
The things I'm seeing.
  I've lost hope,
Need to start believing.

  I have lots of places
To go.
  It's hard for me,
I move slow.

  Can't catch a break,
I spoke
Can't laugh
This is no joke.

  I keep searching for
Some peace.
  Bad energy I need
To release.

  It's hard to be
Strong.
  Everything feels
Wrong.

  I refuse to be thrown
Off track.
  New mindset,
I'm coming back.

  I'm battered, beaten
And bruised.
  You could say,
I paid my dues.
