Over Ripe

Even though you're old and cranky,
You shuffle as you walk.
With constant use of using hanky,
You sound nasal when you talk.

Even though your back is stooping,
And you're no longer 6ft 2
With cheeks sagging and drooping,
Difficulty when you put on your shoes.

Even though your hair is white, dear,
That's the little that is left.
I have to shout, to ask if you are alright dear,
Because we are both deaf.

Even though your joints are stiff,
Making it difficult to get up from your chair.
Causing a rift, dear,
Because my young husband is not sitting there.

All these statements I have made dear,
Are factual true.
Please don't write a poem about me,
As I am in far worse state than you.

Being old is a cause for celebration. First of all not all people get that privilege and second , the old have so many fruits of knowledge to share! Amusing writing. Much enjoyed, dearest Shirley. Blessings

So pleased you enjoyed the poem. If wisdom comes to us with age it is a privilege. It seems that our latter years speed up as we slow down. Hope all is well with you Demetrios, Thank you for your welcome comment.

Lovely, funny tribute to being elderly, Shirley. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I could relate!
