Outside

A cardinal was perched outside my window this morning
The sun shone brightly after a long night of storming

Stoically, it sat alone in a barren tree
As I slowly sipped from my tea cup, it turned and looked at me

Then suddenly, it turned back as it peacefully flew away
A coy smile dressed my face as I thought, "It's going to be a good day."
