Out of The Sun

Out of the Sun
Kevin Davis, 2025
Out of the sun came a ladybug and fly,
Dancing on beams in the bright blue sky.
They found each other in whispers of light,
Twisting and twirling in delicate flight.
Lady, the ladybug had risen early that day,
And taken her friend Joy to show her the way.
Joy, who had already invited her friends to go,
Found Love’s Field as magical as Lady let her know.
Lady returned to her home tree eagerly,
Searching for more friends to share what could be.
Out of the sun she flew and saw a lone fly,
And approached him with wonder in the bright sky.
They found each other in whispers of light,
Twisting and turning in graceful flight.
Their dance told a tale without an uttered word,
A melody soft, just barely heard—

“What are you? Are you like me?” asked the fly.
“I’m a bug,” said the ladybug. “Are you one too?”
“I’m a bug,” said the fly, “but different, I see.”
“Well yes,” she smiled, “a ladybug is what they call me.”
“They call me Buzz—you can hear why!”
“They call me Lady for short,” said she with a sigh.
Buzz asked, “What do you eat? Where do you fly?”
“Flies like sweets—so it’s blossoms you spy?”
“And you?” asked Lady. “Nectar and berries?”
“Yes!” laughed Buzz. “In gardens and prairies!”
“Perhaps,” said Lady, “from tree branch to tree,
We can help each other avoid every bee!”
But then came a gust of wind, swift and strong,
It scattered the blossoms and whistled its song.
Buzz’s flight spun wildly, wings tossed askew,
While Lady clung tightly, unsure what to do.
“I’m slipping!” cried Buzz, caught in the breeze.
Lady reached out, whispering, “Hold on—please!”
She steadied her friend with a branch near the ground,
And together they fluttered to safety, spellbound.
The wind passed at last, and the meadow grew still.
They looked at each other with newfound goodwill.
“Even the sky tried to keep us apart,” said Lady softly,
“But you will always be close to my heart.”
And so began a friendship between a ladybug and a fly.
Though different in form, they gave it a try.
Together they found more in common than they knew,
And their love for each other grew and grew.
The friends flew to a nearby tree and looked out at a field.
“Look!” said Buzz. “See the blossoms it yields!”
“Let’s fly there together and dance through the day!”
“I see love and joy waiting,” said Lady. “Let’s play!”
They found nectar together in Love’s Field’s sweet clover,
They fluttered wing-in-wing all the meadow over.
Each found their happiness brighter than before,
Eager to explore what friendship held in store.
The flowers seemed to wave for them to land,
And the sun smiled warmly across the land.
The day was golden, filled with delight,
Their laughter rising in morning light.

With wings of bright crimson and velvet black,
They twirled and soared, never looking back.
From petal to blossom, hour by hour,
They cherished the gift of friendship’s power.
Lady whispered, “Let’s find a bright bloom,”
While Buzz buzzed softly, dispelling all gloom.
Through fields of green they ventured as two,
Discovering wonders fresh and new.
They landed on petals, tender and sweet,
Where grasses and flowers in harmony meet.
Lady laughed as Buzz spun round and round,
In a world where pure joy could be found.
“Hey Lady,” Buzz said, “What’s new about you?”
“I’m not sure,” she smiled, “but you’re different too.”
“I can see better,” said Buzz with surprise.
“I feel brighter inside,” shone Lady’s eyes.
As twilight descended, they bid the day goodbye,
With dreams of tomorrow beneath the starlit sky.
Yes, out of the sun came Lady and Buzz,
To paint the wide world with love just because.
They found Joy again and flew home to rest,
Each heart feeling full, each friendship blessed.
Sleep brought dreams of dancing on wind,
Of sharing good times with a dear new friend.
Dreams of flying high over fields without end,
Of clover and pollen and trust that won’t bend.
Above them the moon and bright stars smiled,
Blessing their friendship so gentle and mild.
The world waited softly for dawn’s golden thread,
To awaken Love’s Field where happiness spread.
With morning’s first light, from the rising sun they flew—
Lady and Buzz in skies bright blue.
They sang with joy, refreshed anew,
Twisting and turning as onward they flew.
Showing their friends the way to Love’s Field,
Where kindness is planted and love is revealed.
For each brand-new day holds laughter and fun,
And teaches new hearts how to love in the sun.
