Notes About The Poem

This is a shortened version of a ghazal poem I posted last week. Since ghazal uses a last word in line two of every couplet, I created a different version of that form (minus the rhyming word in front of each autumn word) to show a summary of what I wrote about a northern highland village in Pakistan. This poem could be representative of any village in that area, where climate and pollution are changing their environment. Therefore, it's written from the perspective of a person living near the beautiful Fairy Meadows (a tourist attraction which entails riding in a jeep up a dangerous road and then a lot of hiking with the help of local tour guides.) For more details, see my poem "In Autumn."

Our Village Home in Autumn

We have no need of the highland pastures in autumn.
Livestock is brought in; crops are harvested in autumn.

As always, we celebrate with feasting, song and dance in autumn.
Our youth are abandoning traditions such as that in autumn.

Will they not miss Fairy Meadow’s splendor and snow-capped peaks in autumn?
Lahore lures them away from our village; a loss we deeply feel in autumn.

The outside world is changing like the color of our leaves each autumn.
It tries to change us too, yet we still welcome you to our home in autumn.

I'm a bit confused so, yes, all things are normal here. Was this for the 'same last word' challenge and now it is for ???) I would love to see, if not live in, a fairy village. Especially if my home could be in a tree like Bilbo's. Check your intro, this you will find, 'reprentative')

I took a ghazal poem and reduced it to this version for the weekly fun and games challenge here at Soup. Nobody else but you is reading this. I hope you will check out the ghazal I did for Daniels contest. It's called In Autumn. Ghazal is a weird form but Daniel asked us to try to use the poetry forms popular in the area we chose to write on for his autumn moons contest. Did you ever do that one? Thanks for reading! This poem is not for any contest. Just the soup challenge
