Our New Song
I wish someone would come along.
And turn my poem into a song.
Would it go do-do-do-do or da-da-da?
Or would it sound harsh and raw?
If my poem was fortunate enough,
Maybe someone would make a draft that’s rough.
Maybe someone would sit with their coffee.
Like when I write my poems for me.
If anyone was worried about copyright.
I would ease them from their plight.
I would give permission.
For their mission.
Maybe we could make an album.
But I don’t want to overwhelm them.
If someone with some musical experience.
Could make a song that would make sense.
Maybe we could make a fortune.
Or we might just feel joy within.
Either way, I would be happy to meet a new friend!
A collaboration would be perfect, no matter how it ends.
I wish someone would come along.
So together, we could sing our new song.
