Our New Norm

The unexpected has happened to everyone A deadly virus from which we cannot run COVID-19 slowly envelopes the world Like a blanket of destruction being unfurled Sadness, death, and complete isolation Testing each and every nation We are all confused and afraid Wondering if we’ll ever get out of this shade Is this the new norm for each of us? Or are we looking at something more ominous? We stay away to help it disappear To try to rid it from the atmosphere Yet we come together to fight Trying to emerge into the light Is there a positive to be found? Or are we doomed to stay home-bound? Social distancing is what they say Flatten the curve and help it go away We all have to be ready to do what we can To join in and create a new plan To assist our nurses and doctors too Who are owed more than a simple “thank you” Everyone needs help to weather this storm If we don’t, this could just be our new norm
