Our Lost Mentors

Where have you gone Mr. Ruth?
When you left did you delete truth
from this world of virtual glut?
Who will let our babies know?
Who will hand them up from the sidewalk,
the drive by sting of death,
still a question in their lifeless eyes.

Where are you Mr. Wayne?
Have you left us never to return again?
Who will close Pandora's box?
Who will shield the tiny flame?
How will it spread from wick to wick
filling the void with warmth
long forgot?

Where is your soul Mr. Kennedy?
Can you mend the tarnished symphony
played on the winds of deceit and
post traumatic syndrome?
If not you, then who would be King
of Justice, Righteousness, Freedom
and quality of equality?
