Our Heroes
Friends,
I repost this poem this Memorial Day in honor of my 19 year old uncle who was killed in battle in WWII. He sacrificed his life for others. May he rest in Heaven.
Our Heroes
What have our son’s gone off to do?
They have left to fight a war for you,
And risk their lives on a distant shore,
Like our fathers did years before.
Some will return and some will die,
History will judge as time goes by,
Wheather it was a just cause to fight,
That caused mothers to cry at night.
Precious lifeblood spilled on the sand,
In a lonely, God forsaken distant land,
It is not for them to question why,
Their duty calls to fight and die.
These brave young men with bright clear eyes,
Honor bound shout battle cries,
Salute these Heroes as they pass today,
Old soldiers never die, they just fade away.
