Our Friend
The faint blush of her cheeks,
We liken to that of a rose.
Her intoxicating beauty spreads,
From her head to her toes.
Her smile is a reminder,
Of the evening sun going down.
And here heart's inner trappings,
No longer cause us to frown.
There have been tender moments,
We've been privileged to share.
Also times of great concern,
Knowing not of her welfare.
But God in his grand scheme,
Fit each thing into proper place.
Giving us a love for this friend,
Placing her in our hearts space.
We're now a couple in advanced years,
Knowing not what the morrow brings.
Wanting to tell her that we both love her,
Without conditions or attached strings.
Dedicated to our friend Shirlene
