Our First Kiss

I remember our first kiss
Your lips light and sweet against mine
I can't recall of another thing
That ever felt so truly divine

My heart was beyond throbbing
Beating merciless inside my chest
As far as kisses you can go
This one had to be the best

I swear we were floating
Hovering just off the ground
The things around us slowly disappeared
Until there was nothing left around

The moment our lips touched
It was the first time I felt perfection
I have never before anything
And strong as this type of connection

I was sitting there my mind swirling
And these emotions racing through me
I've never been lost like that
Suspending in a state of ecstasy

A tender, sincere love poem that captures the breathless, dreamlike intensity of a first kiss. The regular quatrains and clear end-rhyme give it a gentle ballad flow, while images of floating, hovering, and the world disappearing convey how completely the speaker is absorbed in the moment. The direct, unguarded voice makes the recollection especially warm and believable.
