Our Father Chapter Four

When all Zechariah's members were gone he and his daughters piled back into their family car
and drove to Neptune a seafood restaurant. Zechariah asked Mary the church's treasury how much
did the church raise. "$400" answered Mary. "That's a little light" Zechariah's voice was filled with
disappointment. After they ate their lunch the Israel family made their way home. Pulling into their
driveway of their bedroom brick house they waved at their neighbor Ruby Bell. As they got out of their car Ruby made her way over. "Excuse me Zechariah may I speak with you and your girls for a
minute?" "Of course you can Ruby" answered Zechariah as they exited their car. "You know I teach
at Red District High. Snice Mary is 14 I wanted to know would you enroll her at the high school? I
know you homeschool Mary and Elisabeth but I think public school would be a good idea". "With
all the bad influences at public schools. Ruby I don't think that would be best". "Zechariah you should really give it some thought. I have some books that I want to give to Mary and Elisabeth. May they come over and get them?" "Yes they can". Mary and Elisabeth followed Ruby Bell back to
her home. "I really wish your father would let the two of you attain public school. You would really enjoy it". "Our father says public schools has been corrupted by Satan" Mary told Ruby. "I was raised in an Atheist family Mary meaning we don't believe in God. Even though I was raised an Atheist I was taught to respect other people's beliefs. We are all different. That's what makes us
special". Walking over to the book shelves Ruby took down four books. "The books I have for the two of you are The Complete Collected Poems of Langston Hughes and The Biography of Martin Luther King Jr". "Thank you Ms. Bell". "The two are very welcome. What type of candy do the two
of you like?" "I like Hershey and Elisabeth likes Snickers". "Well guess what? I just happen to have
a Hershey bar and a Snickers bar. I just have to get them out of the refrigerator". "Ms. Bell what's
public school like?" asked Elisabeth as she received the snickers from from Ruby Bell. "Well Elisabeth there will be more children for you to interact with. The teachers make learning fun. Like
I said before you will really enjoy it. I better get the two of you back to your father". When Ruby Bell,
Mary and Elisabeth returned outside they found Zechariah waiting for them.
