Notes About The Poem

True Story . after a week, my face is almost back to normal!

For Janice Canerdy's Trimeric, 2 Poetry Contest

Our Doggy's Claws - TRI

Our dog, named Lucy, though she’s sweet,
How sharp can be that doggy’s claws.
A bite from her would be no treat.
I hope to never feel her jaws.

How sharp can be that doggy’s claws.
The other day by accident
she scratched my face (no harm was meant).

A bite from her would be no treat.
The scratch she left me on my face
is bad enough! It left its trace.

I hope to never feel her jaws.
That sure would hurt. For now, this scratch
with make-up I will need to patch.

Ahh!! The puppy stage can bring some injuries from both teeth and feet. Reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. Sara K

Dear sweet Andrea, You wrote about this experience so well. What an engaging write! I am scared of dogs, hah. This gives me more reasons to altho yes they mean no harm when they accidentally scratch etc! Pleasure reading this. Best wishes for the contest. Sending you light always

Dear Andrea, oh the joys of having a dog or cat. I have been bitten by accident, scratched and punched upon. Your poem shows me what I miss having pets. Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

As you say Lucy would never intentionally harm you, that event may win you the poetry contest Andrea.

Wow! I feel your angst. Very scary the time my son in law brought over his parent’s mastiff who put his teeth on the bones of my wrist. I was bit when I was but five, in the butt! Have tried to overcome my fear. Feel better!

I was told animals can smell fear, so when I meet a strang dog on the street I just walk past like I don't care. Never been bitten. I hear same thing about bees. I just ignore them if one buzzed around me. I don't suppose it would always work though!

Sorry for the scratch... I've had so many scratches throughout my life, even thrown from a horse once. Love animals, though. Lovely writing. God bless you with a win. Love, Gina
