Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes:  This poem, entitled:  "Our Destiny" is a Rhymed Couplet that I originally wrote on March 29, 2015.  (This poem does not appear in my new book that was just released on April 9th.) This poem considers the dichotomy of life's choices coming to us by divine plan or fate. The takeaway point from this poem is that God inspires us to master our true destiny every day with the expectation that our good works will work in our favor allowing each of us the opportunity to ascend to the Almighty Lord God in Heaven on our final day!  I think that this a great poem for inspiring the positive aspects of how each of us may shape our respective destinies in this life.  (Gary Bateman - April 29, 2015) (Rhymed Couplet)

Our Destiny

Our Destiny

Life’s choices come to us by divine plan or fate,
With both options shaping our destiny’s date.

How we each proceed defines who we are
As we seek life beyond living in this Bell Jar.

To find this rare azimuth requires so much care,
And make not your choice on a whim or a dare.

One’s destiny is a complicated proposition,
Which sometimes calls for divine supplication.

If the Almighty wanted to make easy our life’s path,
Then he would’ve laid out a way in our life past.

For it’s within His divine power in Heaven above,
That we all may fly beyond the sky so blue above!

God inspires us to master our true destiny every day,
So we can ascend to Him in Heaven on our final day!

Thanks D! The couplets (and Heroic Couplets) are favorites of mine to write. The rhymed and metered works are always more challenging, but the results can be quite beautiful. Same same by us -- Ingrid and I wish you all the best too!! Our blessing and best wishes to you "D"!! Gary
