Our Bertie

You said goodbye to me today,
You cried for me and held me tight.
I tried to tell you it’s ok,
I tried to stay but couldn’t fight.
You gave me love, looked after me,
You we’re always there my family.
But now I’m gone I am at peace,
My pain and suffering now has ceased.
So don’t be sad and do not cry,
For now I’m running above the sky.
In fields of green with daffodils,
Down the dales and over the hills.

Your moving poem resonates deeply with me. Our Bella crossed over the Rainbow Bridge earlier this month. I like that the poem is from Bertie’s point of view. It’s like even in death she is reaching out to comfort you. John
