Open Eyes

Open eyes
~~~~~~~~~
At a time not far past the realization don upon me, all the cruelties
and injustice inflicted by an unlearned guardian of my childhood and dreams
had somehow imparted to me the very qualities and malice I had vowed to
dispel in the world
So in ignorance and pain into this suffering world a nascent monster was born
Atrocities he committed in the guise of a protector, ravenous and rabid
A force of unrelenting retribution, might made him right
The terrible re maker of innocence did her job too well
The spilling of blood became easier to the tormented soul
The inner conflict and turmoil became too much to bear
Awareness of truth, a face in the fractured mirror I do not know it’s not me, it can't be
Divine intervention turned darkness to light
Yet still each and every day it's an ongoing fight.
