Onset Alzheimer's

It was just here yesterday,
I remembered your smile.
But my thoughts, they don't stay.
They haven't for awhile.

I know it's not far off
when your smile will be new.
I won't remember it.
I won't remember you.

Memories are the one thing
we think will never leave.
But this disease takes everything,
that's now what I believe.

So smile for me now
while I still know it's you.
The next time that you see me
I may think you're someone new.
