Only Words

It's only words, slips of letters formed to be spewed when you're really not listening envisioning the past on which love was once adorned. Some brief reply you spoke in haste when all I wanted was understanding, empathy upon your face. The words you heard were indistinct from what I said and emptiness now holds its place and no bonds between us as we looked ahead you heard me loud and clear too soon our time is done not once knowing, feeling what I feared, nothing remains between the clouds and sun you and I forever parted on the run and all long forgotten, lost in only words.
