'only Puppy Love'

He thought he'd console her 'Twas only 'puppy love' But once he'd left, she slammed her door tight with a shove For what is more innocent What could be sweeter than an adoring, sweet puppy every day who would greet her She sniffed in the daytime wept half the night Darkness o'erspread her removing all light And many years later she saw him and then ~ Her heart started bleeding from love born-again
