Only Me

I think of you often and wonder at times
What it would be like if you were still by my side.
Would we still enjoy walking in the rain,
    Would everything remain the same?
With the children all gone and on their own,
Would we still be content to stay at home.
And in the silence of the night,
Would I still reach out to you, to assure me everything was alright.
But things will never be the same,
And there are times I still call out your name.
But you’re no longer here with me,
And I must face this world only with me.
