"Good Wishes For Your Enemy" Poetry Contest

Only Good Wishes

An enthralling entrancing time of the year,
When we are pensive and reflect on spiritual bliss,
Memories come back tiptoeing, joyful or sad,
Treasured friends and loved ones - we reminisce!

Emerald waves breaking on sand, griefs and
Heartaches, overwhelm with remorse, and care,
In the innermost, saddest corner of our mind,
Ring some unsought tinge of dismal despair.

Not aware who my scornful enemies were,
Never thought, disliked anyone with contempt,
Prayed ardently for their safety and wellbeing,
No harm was asked for, absolutely no attempt!

Let all human beings live in harmony…negativity,
Enmity doesn't solve any bitter problem,
Wishing happiness for everyone, close and far,
My heart feels peaceful, delighted, and solemn!

Great spirit you have Malaika. I often think how beautiful the world wou7be if there wasn't hate, and loses, and negativity and wars and discussions and oppressions. A heaven it would be.

A wonderful spirit to have dear Malabika, but not an easy one to develop and maintain.. sadly it takes two to have the same attitude and rarely does that happens.. an excellent poem for this contest.. all the best

Very true, Dear SO. That’s why I wrote another one on the same theme - in free Verse. I love to write free verse, because then I just pour my heart, don’t get tied up by rhyming necessities. Can I ask you a favour? Whenever you have time, could you please have a look at the other one - “ Pray for Harmony “? Probably I am more realistic in that poem, although I entered this one for the contest. Thank you so much.

Thank you, Vijay. Feels so endearing to receive comments from fellow poets - although I hesitate to call myself a poet - not there yet! Appreciate your inspiring words. Wish you a wonderful holiday season!
