Only 15

A girl I used to know
lived right down the street
every Saturday and
Sunday her and my family
would meet.You see her
mom and my mom were
best friend and they had planned
to raise their daughters together
since both of the fathers had
left making them both single
parents.

I was about 9 when I realized
that Annie was empty inside
she was only 10 years old
yet she already had aged
some much inside.
The girls and I would have
sleep overs and tea parties
but Annie would sit in the corner
and lift her shirt and inspect
her panties.

One day Annie decided to confide in me
as we were outside swinging on our swings.
I will never forget the look on her face
even till this day. She told me her step
father liked to do things to her
and that she was having his baby.
I fell off the swing so hard and
scrapped my knee. Annie said she
was in love but for god sakes
she was only 15.

A tragic story, but you are a wonderful story teller. It makes one want to know what happened to Annie. I hope she overcame her burdens in life. Blessings...Carrie
