One Year

when the dust has settled
and we're still standing here
in the mountain shadows
breathing desert air
finally reached the summit
not without some despair
so far we've weathered storms
and the weather has turned fair

a year has come and gone
and it really flew
sharing things in common
and different points of view
no one I would rather
tell my secrets to
looking forward to spending
many more with a friend like you
