One Step Away

Looking back before,
And seeing things today,
We've argued over little things,
For now you'll be one step away.

You wanted me to learn,
So the piano I could play,
And I worked hard all by myself,
For now you'll be one step away.

Remember all the times,
When over boys we'd fray,
Although you meant it well,
For now you'll be one step away.

You've always been protective,
So that I'd always stay
Right here at home beside you,
For now you'll be one step away.

You've always talked to God,
And sometimes I would pray,
For a role model like you, but
For now you'll be one step away.

So much you do for me,
For your place will always be,
Where no one else can more than see,
One step LESS away from me.
