One of You Has To Be the Adult

I told the mama on the phone, "one of you has to be the adult And it cannot be your five-year old child. That is not fair." She came gunning for me after my next class. I was horrified, but went to my office to see what she wanted. She began bawling. She was pregnant and needed a nap. I told the school nurse to stop calling her to bring him home early daily. Bossing two adults in one day. I never do that, but I did. And guess what? It worked. The next week, this mommy called me and thanked me over and over.

Some people just have to face the truth, and when you make them do so, they are thankful. Good poem, Caren.

The thing is - she was on the phone, the principal made me take her call, and I had six minutes to get to my next class. That is why honesty popped right out of me. No finesse.
