One of a Kind

ONE OF A KIND Inspired by a bright idea when a vision came to me. It never had been done before, to plant a chocolate tree. I nurtured a cocoa bean, in special soil it was planted. Watering this bean every day, in a few weeks it had sprouted. It grew into a lovely tree which became my pride and joy. In winter it bloomed with flowers which a storm did not destroy. My tree was quite unusual it's leaves were brown in colour, and it bore such different fruit which was worth all my labour. Flowers had ripened to chocolates, I picked them fast as could be, and now was longing to taste them, this tree would make history. These chocolates varied in colour, some dark, while others were light. All contained different centres, which was an amazing delight. There were orange and lemon creams, Strawberry and caramel too. Peppermint creams, my favourite, plenty to please me and you. The chocolate crop was prolific I've given to friends by the score. My tree has become so popular, I now have more friends than before. My 'one of a kind' is famous, science asks 'how can it be'? But I'll not divulge my secret how to grow a chocolate tree. I plan on planting extra beans in that special soil next year, then I'll gather more chocolates to spread a season of good cheer. Copyright © Vivien Wade March 2018
