One Night of Love

You came to me in the darkness of the night, And stayed until the morning light – You made me love you, Though I didn’t want to do it – But your love was so strong. How could I be doing wrong? You lay beside me, warm and tender – That night I made my sweet surrender, You made me love you, Though I didn’t want to do it – But to my heart you’d found the key - ‘Love me true’ was my only plea. Your loving arms crept slowly round me. I told myself you were the one. You made me love you, Though I didn’t want to do it – Then, all too soon you’d gone, And only memories linger on. I’ve never loved another, not like you - To me, we were ‘the perfect two’ – You made me love you, Though I didn’t want to do it – I love you still, And guess I always will.
