One More Time
When the time comes for me to go
and I know not what my fate may be,
let me have one final moment Lord
to breathe in the peony.
Let me walk the trail to Mingo Falls,
and hear the thunder roar
one more time.
When my last day has arrived
and I must say goodbye,
Let me hear the sweet, sweet laughter
of my children one last time.
Let them feel the joy in my heart
as they kiss me before I part
one more time.
When it is time to close the pages
of the book of life for me,
let me write just one more poem
that will last eternally.
Let me leave a lasting token
of this passion I hold dear
one more time.
When I take my final bow
on the stage of God’s green earth,
may I leave a lasting legacy
to reveal what life is worth.
May the ones whom I hold dearly
know how much they meant to me
as they read through all these pages
one more time…
