One More Day

One more day I slept serene, while some where distant bombs and screams awaken others from their dreams.. One more day I quenched my thirst while others trapped and feared the worst, living out war's curse. One more day I tidied, swept, while elsewhere children died, mothers wept, cried in anguish, so bereft.. One more day my skies were blue. I ventured out with things to do, while others watched their world unglue.

I'm at a loss for words here. Such a contrast of two worlds. Hope you are not feeling any guilt... I remember my mom saying, 'How can you leave vegetables on your plate when the children in China are starving?' (That was the mid 1950's). :) gw

Hi Gershon, I seldom go back to see comments after I've posted so I apologize for not responding earlier. I don't know if guilt would be the right emotion, just empathy and puzzled as to why some humans must endure such immense suffering.

your poignant words and the contrast you created between your life and the life of someone in a war torn country were powerful and well executed. Your poem spoke to my heart. Well done...enjoy your evening, Sara

Thanks so much Sara. We all experience our ups and downs in this life but I can not imagine how others cope with such a fate. Have a blessed day and again thanks for your visit.

A tremendous rendering on those who are suffering and grieving. The contrast you draw between the two worlds rings so true. Quite touching a write from an enlightened mind. A FAVE for me Nancy.

Thank you for your visit to my page Vijay. I think most of us are struggling with heavy poetic hearts these days as well as some anxiety over the loss of human life on both sides and just the overall horrors of war. Your comments were most kind but if you ask my family they would disagree with the "enlightend mind part" Have a blessed day Mr. Vijay..
