One Lonely Mother

Barely there and barely breathing
All alone this chilly night
Frosted blanket in the fields
But all was calm and vivid bright
One mother comforts her new baby
She'd none to give, none but her love
This was enough, more than enough
The Lord watched closely from above
Guiding her steps, guiding her heart
With no direction, with no plan
But God did know where she must go
To raise him to a gracious man
