One Day

One Day

How can one person inflict so much pain
She doesn’t realize that her family isn’t to blame
The truth hurts sometimes but it should help you to grow
She says no one loves her but that isn’t so
For years I have hoped that we could be close
But she just keeps hurting the ones who love her the most
She lives in her world where there are only three
That’s the life she chooses & the way she likes it to be
Her friends are now invited to holiday dinners
Family is no longer the invitation winners
Again and again I have tried to make peace
But now she refuses to let the pain cease
One day perhaps if only in my dreams
My sister and I will be able to experience what 'real' family means.

Family quarrels can lead to so much sorrow and disappointment... all you can do is love her, and hope for a change of heart. Nicely rhymed. Well done Sandra... Best wishes, Keith (PS welcome to the Soup!)
