Once Upon a Time

She's just sixteen with a heart full of love
He's seventeen going on eight
She should have listened to her mom and dad
But she didn't, she just couldn't wait

So they ran away and got married
A regular Romeo and Juliet
A fairytale without a happy ending
One she'd live to regret

It wasn't very long 'til two became three
And Romeo was out of a job
But instead of trying to find some honest work
He found an old lady to rob

Now Juliet lives with her mom and dad
And Romeo's doing ten years
The thought of her raising her baby alone
Still brings Juliet to tears

I should have started out with, "Once upon a time"
But this story happens everyday
And there's never gonna be a happy ending
When a story starts out this way

Excellent. It's, sadly, so common.

Awesome, Larry. Sad but true. Happens way too often. Well written. Ralph
