Once upon

Once upon a midnight somber
I was wishing hard for slumber
thoughts were racing
and then chasing
heartbeat high
letting out a deep sigh,
I wonder if I should give up on sleep
or try again to count some sheep
Weary and shaken
it feels like my peace has been taken
but after a while, I give it up and smile
because I know I am held close for a while
Letting God's peace fill my being,
my Savior who my anxiety is squeezing
until is all runs out and fills me with calm
which to my hurting spirit is a balm
and I am able to truly get some rest
while resting in the arms I love best
