Once I Knew a Man
Once I knew a man
Whom proposed to me a dream and
I thought so highly of him
As he boosted self-esteem.
Set my heart upon him
With a vision of success,
Though somehow he turned out to be
Other and much less.
Intention was to marry him
How I wished with hope-
They’d be a time when he’d be mine
Even to elope.
The fantasy has now been squished
Somehow it came undone,
Ponder how a plan for two
Unravelled into one.
Guess I’ll always be alone
For here I do conceive,
Love that never came to light
Was meant to only grieve.
Thus I devise that I shall rise
Tomorrow once again,
To trick myself it was not real
Desire for the man.
The aim, the goal has been destroyed
Brought me untold woes
Must digest and seek to rest…
Love comes but then it goes.
