Once Human

Darkness falls swiftly
And everything seems to sleep
This desolate place is silent
And shadows begin to creep
The only wretched signs of life
Are looking for a pill
Desperate for a fix
Ready to steal maim or kill
Strange creatures once human
Roam this empty street
Wasted bodies sunken eyes
Bones picked clean of meat
Not living simply existing
With only one thing in mind
Looking like a walking corpse
That even Death left behind
