Once Beautiful Eyes

Looking into the mirror
Real deep - into my eyes
I try to find out who I am
Looking deep inside.

I ask "Who am I?"
"Why am I here?"
This is really me - living
Blood, sweat, and tears.

Today, a year later
Those eyes have turned to gray
I cannot look deep into them
Without seeing blood-streaked veins.

Once beautiful eyes
Lost hope
Once beautiful eyes
No more.
