As he rose up through the ranks (He's number 1 today), Fans would clamor for a glimpse Of glory on display. Though injuries and circumstance Have sometimes kept him down, He always seems to reemerge To claim an Open crown. Today he did exactly that By managing to banish His opponents at the French, Numero once,** in the Spanish. * Rafael Nadal, who just won his 11th French Open ** pronounced with 2 syllables

A champion lives to fight again. And quitters never get to win. But as in life, fate sometimes calls. Then you get a new can of balls.

Not a sport I ever cared for, though I will admit it does take skill, not to mention stamina. And no one's ever explained to me the scoring system, and if they did I never got it right. / M

Great verse Ilene, I admire anyone who never gives up even when the odds are stacked against them. Just wrote a poem Gabriela Anderson -Scheiss who ran in the 1984 Olympics' and came 37th. But never gave up . Tom
