On Trying To Impress

From our desire to impress
We create ourselves as fakes
Putting on a false beauty
For all others to see
Hoping that's what it takes
For other eyes to see us best

In doing this you may
Loose whom you want to find
Whom you were trying to impress
With fancy clothes and fancy dress
For now you end up in a bind
As no attention to you they pay

Instead try being you
Don't try to go all out
To look cute or beautiful
As your true self is wonderful
So next time you go about
Be yourself that's all you have to do
