On the Winds To Forever

You took off in the wind,
You floated on the breeze,
As the trees lost their leafs,
Gently they flooded down,
Falling from the trees to the ground,

The rash of wind,
Touched my hair,
Like gentle fingers,
And I knew you was there,
I imagine you there,
On the winds to forever,
The gentle breeze,
Brushed my cheek,
Making my tears leak,
Then I knew you couldn't stay,
On the winds to forever,

The smoothest downwind stroked my hand,
And I knew that you was leaving,
Because you let go of my hand,
On the winds to forever,
As the sunlight beamed through the clouds,
There you stood, a little transparent but so sad,
My legs took flight as they run towards you,
Before you could go,
But you welcomed me as I stood in front of you,
The wind rotated me as your arms came to embrace me,
My hair floated in the rotating wind,
My lips froze as the gentle wind was cold,
Like the first frost when morning broke,
When you pressed your lips against mine,
This was your way of saying goodbye,
Tears embrace my cheeks with our final kiss,
I will forever miss,
My dearest friend,
Float on your winds to forever,

written by Davina browne,
inspired by my muse my dearest friend, rest in peace love, forever your friend.

Davina, this is a beautiful poem. It is such a mindful way to honor your friend who died. Could I get permission to use this poem in a book of home funeral ceremonies that I am writing? ~ Blessings for sharing your gift with us. Donna

You have a beautiful way with words and you always have a spiritual touch to your poetry, laced with visuals of nature and your true nature of emotions. You always will feel her undying love in the caress of the breeze. I am drawn to your poetry, because of your hopeful rays of sunshine. Even in death and darkness, you find beauty in the life around you. Life and nature has its way of cradling us through the griefs and dark impasses of tragedy. I wish you happiness all your days! Always, Laura

You paint a picture with words that bring your memories alive in the reader’s mind, and we too can appreciate the abhorrent pain and suffering, both physical and emotional, that the death of a close friend can inflict upon the heart of the one left behind. Emile. #7
