On the Sixth Day

On the Sixth Day On the sixth day God created the animals Oh what fun creating the animals; Rolled up each sleeve to create all the animals On the sixth day. God made cats and dogs and hogs and frogs Elk and moose – mongoose on the loose; Singing birds and fuzzy chicks – The Lord in Heaven even made a tic? Ick! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made camels, rhinos, laughing hyenas Lions, tigers, funny stripped zebras; Robins that fly and pigs with curly tails Roadrunners, coyotes and the slowest snails. Beep! Beep! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made leopards, cheetahs, elephants, oh my! Bumblebees, ladybugs and all the butterflies; Bears and badgers, bunnies too! Koalas down under then made the kangaroo. Yahoo! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made otters, dolphins, seals and grey whales Beavers, peacocks, squirrels with their funny tails; Worms that slither and tortoise that creep Wombats, meerkats, silver fox and fuzzy sheep! Baa! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made gophers, manatees, long-necked giraffe Anteaters, platypus just to see us laugh; Walrus, polar bears, doe eyed deer; Possums and skunks, not to fear! Whew! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made crickets, fireflies, marmots, muskrats, Jaguar, walking sticks, radar guided bats; Beavers, ferrets, woodchuck, raccoons - Made the wolves who howl at the moon. Howl! On the sixth day God created the animals. God made crab and shrimp and gooey ducks Lobster, cows, grasshopper ruckus; Horses, ants and donkeys forlorn But, God didn’t make a unicorn? Oh no! I have to admit I loved crafting all of the animals into this poem - at times a challenge of finding the right place in the "ark" of this poem and I do love animals. Was also fun to find all the rhymes! Thank you for your congratulations. I am most grateful! Stay healthy and safe my friend! Virtual hugs to you.

I just love your reference to God as Dr. Doolittle, Gershon! That made me smile a little bigger this morning! Thank you, as always, for your delightful words of encouragement

Sam, I grabbed a hot cup of coffee, put on my fuzzy slippers and read this veritable Noah's Ark with great glee! I loved your cute one-word exclamations to end each stanza (beep! beep! and Whew! were my favs), your animal groupings, alliterations and fun rhymes; all of it. This has children's song written all over it, I hope you have set it to music already. Love! Congrats on #1, too.

Hi John, I had to do something with whimsy and fun. I can see you in your slippers with a hot beverage. Now that makes me smile! Until I started working with all of the animals - I did kinda feel like Noah herding squirrels - I never realized how many of their names rhymed. Thank you for making me smile today and, yes, I have set it to music. Blessings!

Hi Connie, your are most welcome! So glad this gave you a chuckle, or two. I had so much fun writing it. I figured we all need some humor right now. And thank you for your "fave." That is IS an honor. I agree with you - I think the soupers would enjoy it as a POTD, but, then again I am biased - just a tad! Have a good day my friend. Blessings. Hope you stay healthy!
