On the Rocks
On these very granite rocks
we once sat and joyfully talked
and somewhere amid the churning
river and your hypnotizing words
I fell in love. Fallen like
the tumbling waters beside me,
in my ears, mimicking
the rhythm of my heart. Here
sits the one man in the world
who adores you even as you
step on his throat to silence
him…my love. No! Don’t let
the sadness in, fortify the walls
with more rocks…too many holes.
You are stronger with the courage
of hope and second chances in time.
It is this faith alone that allows
me to let you go; the butterfly is
free.
