On Lilac Breeze
Eggs
Laid on
Milkweed leaves,
Caterpillars
Soon emerge and weave
Through the plant as they feast
Then cocoon, a week at least
On a warm spring day, when it's right
A butterfly takes its maiden flight
~
Upon monarch's wings and morning dew
A summer day has come to you
Scent of rose on lilac breeze
Wafts gently through the trees
Butterflies float by
'Neath azure sky
As birds sing
Their sweet
Song
