On Life's Endevor

You told me forever. We both know it wasn't true. I thought we were in it together, but it was really only you. You tried to hold my hand, but when you did I pulled away. Apparently our "love" was always canned. I don't think you loved me anyway. I told them they were wrong, but now I know they were right. Now I am writing this song, and you know I hate it when we fight. I told you you were a cheater, always playing those silly games. I know I'm not a leader, so now all I feel is shame. You asked for a second chance, then I told you never. I felt as if you hit me with a lance. I guess I'm alone on life's endeavor.
