Oleander Shrub

Fell for the beauty of an oleander 
My feelings were in an emotion blender 
They told me that you were bitter 
But you always made me feel better 
You altered my heartbeat to a new rhythm 
It's okay for me, so why should I listen
When with you, my body goes numb 
It's a feeling I can't overcome 
They said that I was poisoned 
But with them, I somehow reasoned 
In the end when I woke up 
There were no flowers, but the shrub

Oleander is a beautiful but a bit poisonous flower. Its poisoning causes a change in heartbeat and numbness. The poet tried using these symptoms in the poem to reflect their feelings. That's why the poet like it ;-)
