Old Dog

Grey of snout
Slowly shuffling along
There’s never been a better friend
Faithful till the end.

Eyes look lovingly
Slightly cloudy now
There’s never been a better friend
Faithful till the end.

Both your and my energy levels
Are low now old mate
There’s never been a better friend
Faithful till the end.

Where you go
I will surely follow
On that you can depend
I’ve never had a better friend
Until we meet again.

Sounds like a great dog. They are so loyal and loving. Mine is 14 and she's declining quickly. You expressed this so well in how bonds with pets mean so much. Well done, Paul.

Thank you, Christopher. I'm very happy you like this poem. I've had many 4 legged humans over the years. Currently, we have an 8 month old toy poodle named Saffron - she's the best thing that's happened to our family in a long time. In this poem I'm imagining her ageing. In about 10 years, Saffron and I will probably be around the same biological age. All the best. Cheers, Paul.
