Old Age Can Wait
Old age can wait
My body, it tells me, slow down you are old,
Don't kick a football, go out in the cold,
Don't splash in puddles, or play in the dirt,
But my mind keeps on saying, one more time it won't hurt,
So I climb up a tree and swing on a gate,
I've the heart of a kid, so old age it can wait.
My body, it tells me, sit down, take a rest,
Don't go exploring, set out on a quest,
Don't chase adventures, sit here and be still,
But my mind keeps on saying, what's over that hill?
So yesterday's memories, I now replicate,
And crawl through the grasses, old age it can wait.
My body, it tells me, I'm no longer young,
I'll ache something shocking, if I have too much fun,
Don't chase balloons, at my age that ain't right,
But my mind keeps on saying, fly one more kite,
Play Robin Hood, Alexander the Great,
My mind is still active, so old age it can wait!
